During mid July 2010, I took some time out with my family to brave the coldest little village in South Africa to get some images of the night sky in Sutherland. Sutherland is internationaly famous for its clear skies at night and is home to S.A.L.T. ( South African Large Telescope ) , which is the largest reflective telescope in the southern hemishere. None of the following images were taken through any of these telescopes, but with my camera and a 15mm - 85mm f3,5 canon EF lens at a temperature of -6 to -9 degrees celsius..Amazing what you can do with a simple camera. Enjoy! ! !
